Black Lives Matter Mural | Foley Square

In June 2020 I had the honor of creating the design for the word “Matter” for the Black Lives Matter mural in Foley Square, Lower Manhattan, which has been a site for many protests and rallies and is in close proximity to the African Burial Ground. Each letter reflected an aspect of the roots, revolution, and resilience of the Black community. The work was realized in July 2020 — in the span of three days — by the legendary Tats Cru and Thrive Collective, a youth arts organization. Here are a few images displaying my initial design and how it was realized.
